POSITION

UNIT MANAGER, NURSING (ORTHOPAEDIC WARD) – BLOEMFONTEIN, FREE STATE


INTRODUCTION

DUTIES/EXPECTATIONS AND CRITICAL OUTPUTS

Lead the implementation of the nursing care plan.

Co-ordinate and facilitate the delivery of correct treatment plans in order to achieve clinical outcomes.

Ensure competence of staff and students.

Promote customer satisfaction.

Implement national quality initiatives.

Identify clinical safety risks and trends in the above mentioned.

Ensuring effective leadership and people management.

Effective financial management of the unit including equipment.

o Participate in business planning and budgeting processes.

o Manage stock utilization and Cost of Sales.

Maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Drive unit specific CPD Programs, In-service training and on the spot training.


REQUIREMENTS

Current and Valid SANC Registration

Degree or Diploma in Nursing Science / Similar

Minimum Five (5) years’ post basic experience

Minimum Three (3) years’ experience in an Orthopaedic Ward – Essential

Previous Unit Management Experience – Advantageous

Post Graduate Diploma in Nursing Management and / or Nursing Education – Advantageous

Certified Qualification in Orthopaedics – Advantageous

Basic understanding of labour legislation, financial and chain management

Driver’s License and Own Reliable Transport

Fully Computer Literate

Excellent verbal and written communication skills
